Book Review: Mirror Work- it reflects back who you truly are inside!

Mirror Work

21 days to Heal Your Life

By Louise Hay

Based on the popular video course Loving Yourself, this 21 day course only requires a mirror and you. Louise Hay states, “Mirror work—looking yourself deeply into your eyes and repeating affirmations—is the most effective method I’ve found for learning to love yourself and see the world as a safe and loving place.”

While it seems so simple, the majority of people never look themselves in the eyes in a mirror. They “see” their hair, make-up, clothing, etc but fail to see themselves. They are self critical of the external body that they do see. The accompanying negative self talk harms the person inside.

As the saying goes that eyes are the window to the soul, is it any wonder why people avoid looking into their own eyes. Why do they feel eerie to do so? This book focuses right into that very uncomfortable space in order to heal, in order to love, in order to live.

Mirror work starts out with exercises in front on a mirror and not physical exertion exercises, but mental, soul level ones. Affirmations are stated while looking directly at yourself. You’ll learn to remove negative beliefs that harm then replace them with positive thoughts to heal. There are audio meditations that accompany the book, a website and password are given to follow along each day if the course.

Day One starts out with Loving Yourself, each day presents a different theme. Louise gives some thoughts about the theme, a Heart Thought, the mirror exercise, a guided meditation and a journal exercise for each day.

The themes run from Self-Talk to Letting go if your past to Healing relationships. Releasing Pain, Self Healing, Releasing Anger and Overcoming Fear. Forgiving Yourself, Living Stress free and Living in gratitude.

This book is a complete course to change your negative thoughts to positive thoughts through the core of your being. Louse states that saying positive affirmations out loud is the simplest way to change your thoughts. Doing it in front if a mirror leaves you no place to hide. Visible reactions whether they are smiles, tears or blockades will be front and center so you can deal with them to heal your life.

Mirror Work- it is that simple.
