Book Review: Not your typical YA Paranormal Coming-of-Age Romance!

Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon

Dead Beautiful is the journey of 16 year old Renee Winters. Soon after her parents die, her new guardian, her grandfather, sends her to an exclusive boarding school academy. Of course, she doesn’t want to go, to leave everything she knows behind. Once she is there, she meets Dante Berlin. He isn’t all he appears to be. There are mysteries to uncover, deaths to discover and secrets to unravel in this adventurous tale. Renee has to deal with the grief of losing her parents, and adjust to a new life at the academy. Complication after complication arises and tests her merit, her spirit and her ultimately her soul. In the end selflessness is the key theme.

Dead Beautiful refers to the dead language of Latin that all academy students are required to learn, as well as the dead that inhabit its grounds. Author Yvonne Woon creates a new subgenre of paranormal that will leave the reader wanting more. Luckily this is the first in a trilogy, #2 Life Eternal and #3 Love Reborn are all currently available so no one has to wait.
