Turned by Virna DePaul

Renowned author, Virna DePaul adds another paranormal series to her vast collection. The Belladonna Agency series, introduced FBI special agent Ty Duncan. Only a privileged few within the FBI know the real existence of vampires. When Agent Duncan became one of those few, he did it unwillingly as he was turned into one.  Now working under the sub-agency Belladonna, he is determined to bring to justice those that turned him. There are rules against turning vampires set by the vampire queen and organization. However, when rogues set about their own agenda a battle of ideologies ensues.

This stand-alone story launching the series also introduces Ana Martin with whom Agent Duncan is to protect and to recruit. Recently out of prison and a former gang member, she is trying to start a new life.  Until her past comes back to impede the progress.  Tension develops between the two when Agent Duncan realizes he has to exert extra self-control whenever he is around Ana.  Ana admits she is attracted to him as well but her inner critic prohibits her from acting on her feelings. More complications about the rogues, an illegal immigrant turned blood-slave ring, and her former gang keep this story moving to a satisfying conclusion.

DePaul creates fresh attributes to the vampire literature legacy making this not your typical vampire story.  It is a great start with promise of much more to come. Available now for pre-order to be released April 1, 2014.
